context
developed brand collaboration between vans and legendary skateboarder, tony alva, with commemorative shoe, skateboard, and apparel line. taking reference from mid-70s, southern california skate competitions, and the vendors that would sponsor the events, a retro ice cream vendor motif was created as a nod to the era and events that aided in tony alva becoming the legend he is today. a summertime sprinkle pattern was created for the shoe line, creating a new pattern that would live alongside the other legend in the mix: the checkerboard slip-on.
